It is never safe to store log in information in an unprotected text file. If you can not keep track of multiple user names and passwords, you can save them with PassLook. This lightweight application will keep your passwords safe, in an encrypted database. Its powerful search function will help you locate specific log in credentials instantly, after which you will be able to paste your password from the clipboard.

PassLook is available as a freeware application, for Windows and Mac OS platforms. Its files can be extracted from a ZIP archive, so there is no need to go through an installation process. The PC and Mac files can be found in separate folders, within the same archive.

The compact user interface consists of a search field and options for starting a search and adding new accounts to the database. If you decide to add a new account or to look for an existing one, the interface will expand, to reveal a series of input fields.

Besides the account's name and your log in credentials, you can also type a short note and add a URL, for the sign in page. If you are looking for a specific set of log in details, you can type the account's name or part of it, your user name or other information, in the search field. PassLook can find the requested information instantly and it displays it in the same input fields.

While viewing the found information, you can show or hide the password and launch the provided URL, on your default web browser. When you find a set of credentials, the application will automatically copy the password to the clipboard, so you don't have to reveal it. If you need to copy the password a second time, it is sufficient to select its input field.

Pros

You can save and find log in credentials instantly. The application will copy your password to the clipboard automatically, eliminating the need to reveal it. PassLook can be used on PCs and Macs and you don't need to install it.

Cons

An auto-fill function would be a welcomed addition. PassLook will keep your passwords safe at all times, even when you need to log into an account.
